As a French intern, born and raised in Paris, I am in a good position to say that we do not have a lot of wedding planners, even over the last few years being a wedding planner has become increasingly attractive !
Most people organize their wedding themselves with family’s or friend’s help, whereas it is so common to call a wedding planner in the United States. While in the United States, I was lucky enough to get to help out Pure Ambiance Event Design with one of their weddings.
During this special occasion, I noticed that French weddings are slightly different in many ways:
Firstly, we do have a civil marriage ceremony the same day before the religious ceremony
Secondly, we usually have the “throwing the brides’ bouquet” after the church, whereas American brides do it after the reception. Therefore, in France, after the religious ceremony the guest throw rice to the newlyweds as a sign of prosperity and fertility.
Thirdly, we do not have a singer for the religious ceremony while in the United States it is very common.
Then, I discovered the concept of a Photobooth at the reception (It is pretty cool and I will definitely have one for my wedding in Paris !!! )
I also recognized in France , we don’t have “hors d’oeuvre” for guests or private cocktail for bride and groom before the reception, we only have the dinner.
And finally, the design decoration for tables is very elaborate with a lot of candles and lights, whereas in France we privilege sober and purified decoration. With that being said, it also depends on wether a designer is responsible. Generally, French wedding is “less bling-bling” and more simplistic. American weddings are more ornate with a lot of sparkle and gleam.
Traditionally, in a French wedding, after the reception we offer a little box of “dragées” for the guests, it symbolizes the joys and sorrows of life. We usually offer 5 “dragées” which represent 5 vows: fertility, happiness, prosperity, health and longevity. It is also a souvenir for this beautiful day.
However, all weddings are not similar, every wedding is unique, and mainly depends on your own traditions, beliefs, desires, personal creativity, and the country where it takes place.
It remains for most women, one of their best beautiful memories.
Moreover, I wanted to encourage all women to think about hiring a wedding planner for their special day.
Indeed, she or he will support you with all the organization from the beginning to the end, she or he will make sure you are not stressed because you deserve to enjoy planning such an important day.
Please also take a look at our past post “Perks of hiring an event planner” ! It will give you all the benefits of sharing this day with a professional !
NB: thank you to Kisha A. Barner for letting me attend to an American Wedding and Pure Ambiance Event Design for providing these amazing pictures ! http://www.pureambiance.com

We headed down to Long Beach Island in the midst of summer for Jaimee’s gorgeous wedding at Mallard Island Yacht Club. Beauty Artist Group was faced with the task of completing 24 services in 4 hours. Some people may think that this is impossible, but not for Beauty Artist Group!! We love this venue for the fact that it is the perfect little getaway for a beach wedding. We would like to thank Susan Stripling Photography for these breathtaking pictures. To Jaimee and Ed, Beauty Artist Group wishes nothing but the best to you!
Beauty Artist Group was ecstatic to partake in one of our first same sex marriages! Maria Elena and Anula are such an amazing couple. You can see their love for each other gleaming through these images provided to us by Elizabeth Massa. They got married at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown, New Jersey. After the church, they headed over to the Morris Museum, which is an amazing venue. We would like to thank both of you so much for sharing these images with us!! We’re thrilled that this past November, New Jersey passed the law for same sex marriages. We look forward to being involved in many more to come. Again, thank you both for being such an awesome couple! We would like to send our best and wish you a long and beautiful marriage!!
To all the newly engaged couples out there trying to figure out what season to get married…think no further. Our bride, Megan, chose the perfect season. Megan’s wedding was held in the beginning of autumn at a Weddings of Distinction venue, The Ashford Estate. Getting married at The Ashford Estate is what I would call the ideal location for an autumn wedding. This venue is beautiful with all of the fall colors in the trees the soy bean fields and the gorgeously well maintained landscaping. Beauty Artist Group accentuated Megan’s natural beauty with a light smoky eye and a natural lip color. We had a blast doing her and her bridesmaids hair and makeup. We’re obsessed with all of these photos provided by the amazing Michelle Gardella. We love how she not only captured Megan’s beauty, but, how she captured the beauty of autumn and mother nature. It was such a delight to work with Michelle and we hope our paths cross again in the future! Beauty Artist Group wishes the couple nothing but the best and to a wonderful future together.
Your wedding day, for most women, is a day that comes once in a lifetime. It is something you dream about as a child. You look forward to marrying the man of your dreams and starting a new chapter in your life. The most common question that crosses the mind of a future bride is, “Where do I begin?” Hiring an event planner will help to ease your mind by allowing her to answer all of the different questions.
Although many people think hiring an event planner is expensive, they will actually save you an abundance of money in the long run. How is this possible? These planners have experience in the wedding industry and can help you maintain and stay on your budget.
Another perk of hiring an event planner is less stress. There are many pieces to the puzzle that go into planning your big day that you probably don’t realize at first. When you look a little further into the process of planning, you’re likely going to feel overwhelmed. Having someone who knows exactly what they’re doing and know how to handle each situation, will take that extra weight off your shoulders.
Lastly, an event planner has the best connections in the industry. Planners work closely with, and can recommend vendors that they have used before. They have experience working closely with different venues, bakeries, florists, make-up artists, and many more. Utilizing a wedding planner can offer you the best service that each bride could ask for! Who wouldn’t want to know all the inside scoop on everything in the wedding industry?
Overall, a planner will make your wedding day the best day of your life. They will ease all of your stress and go the extra mile to make your day what you’ve always dreamed of. It’s your day, take the time to enjoy it with family and friends! Let your wedding planner worry about the little things!
It was a great honor to be a part of such an elegant Indian wedding in mid August. Beauty Artist Group traveled to Princeton New Jersey to partake in 3 different events for our bride, Ram. This wedding was filled with stunning dresses straight from India, beautiful jewelry, and fabulous shoes. We couldn’t help but fall in love with all of the different outfits because of their richness in colors and details. Although they were all beautiful , our personal favorite was the pink one! Ram’s looks went from a simple side sweep with natural makeup to a traditional up-do. Then after she took her hair down and partied the night away! It was our pleasure to meet and work with SYPhotography. We wish Ram and her husband Sumit all of the best and to a long, happy, and healthy marriage!!!
It was my pleasure to work with one of the most laid back brides I have encountered over the years, Katelyn. Beauty Artist Group was there to do the makeup and had the most fun working with her friends and family. Katelyn was a natural beauty and didn’t need much makeup to stand out on her big day. We got to meet and work with a new photographer, Chelo Keys, which provided us with these beautiful images. Her wedding took place at one of the Weddings of Distinctions properties, The Ashford Estate. As you can see from the images, all of the details came together to make for a magical evening for Katelyn and her family. We were blown away by the floral design and arrangements from Magnolia- Exquisite Florals and Event Décor. It was an honor to be a part of such a beautiful night for a beautiful bride. We’re wishing Katelyn all of the best and hoping to work with these fabulous vendors in the 2014 season!
Have you ever wondered what a makeup artist keeps in her makeup bag? The mystery is over because now I am going to let you peek inside my makeup bag. I’m always looking for new products, but the products that are in my bag now are things that I trust and are my go to products:
1) MAC Shadows
I use MAC shadows because they’re long-lasting and highly pigmented.
Some of my favorite colors are:
Brule- for an allover neutral or highlight
Carbon- I love using it for my eyeliner with the MAC #266 brush
Print-for a smokey look
2) MAC Brow Pencil in Strut
Perfect when I’m in a rush, but still need to fill in my brows. Although I love this pencil I still prefer shadows.
3) Laura Mercier Cake Eyeliner in Black Ebony
This defines the eye in a natural-looking and subtle way. I love to use this product because it never smudges.
4) Brow Gels
My favorite brands to use are either MAC or Maybelline. There’s no big difference between the two except for the price. I use the gel to comb my brows into place so they stay all day
5) Lash Curler
I always use a lash curler, it really opens up my eyes
6) They’re Real by Benefit
Check out my blog post to find out more information about this awesome product http://beautyartistgroup.com/mascara-mascara-mascara/
7) MAC blush in the shade Trace Gold
A nice neutral shimmer tone blush that reflects light and gives a natural glow. I just love the pigments in this blush!
8) The NARS Multiple Sticks
I love using it as a contour. It’s easy to apply and blends out really well.
9) MAC paint pots!
Check out my blog post for more about MAC paint pots http://beautyartistgroup.com/beauty-must-haves/
10) Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe
I love the Maybelline Color Tattoos just as much as the MAC paint pots.
11) MAC Lipglass in either Oyster Girl or Underage.
I love using them when I’m on the run to add some shine to my lips.
12) Cherry or Magenta lip liners both from MAC, I use Ruby Woo lipstick with Cherry and Girl About Town lipstick with Magenta.
For a bold/fun look on my lips
13) Mascara Wands
A must in my makeup bag. I use them to separate lashes and to comb through my brows.
14) Sponge Tip Applicators
Are also necessary in my bag. They are easy, quick, disposable, and a cheap option for applying eye shadow bases and all-over shadows, but make sure you still have a good blending brush.
15) Mac Select Cover-Up Concealer
See my blog post for more about this amazing product http://beautyartistgroup.com/beauty-must-haves/
16) Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
I use this for a lighter coverage
17) Makeup Forever HD Foundation.
I use this if I need a little bit more coverage
18) Makeup Forever Pro Finish Foundation
Great for in-the-car or on-the-go touch ups. I will also add it on top of my liquid foundations when I need more coverage.
With so many makeup products on the market, it’s not easy knowing exactly which beauty products are worth spending your money and time on. Here are some of my absolute must-haves that you should use in your everyday makeup look.
MAC Paint Pots
MAC paint pots are my number one product to use. I use them as a base on every single one of my clients. They neutralize the lid and keep you shadows lasting all day long. They also create seamless coverage without weighing or caking your lids.
-Try Painterly for fair-medium skin tones
-Try Groundwork for medium-dark skin tones
MAC #266 brush
One of my favorite brushes is the MAC #266 brush. This brush has many uses. I mostly use it for eyeliner and filling in my brows. It creates sharp and precise lines and also has great control. I usually use it with either carbon eye shadow or blacktrack fluidline, both from MAC. This is most definitely the best angled brush I have ever used.
When I worked behind a counter for various makeup companies there are two things I got asked about all day:
Check out our blog post on the best mascaras.
Stay tuned for our favorite drug store mascaras!
Mister Light Instant Light Corrective Pen from Givenchy
This product perfectly covers everything I hate about my under eye area. When I use this product it doesn’t look heavy when applied. It leaves subtle glow that is very natural looking. This magic pen is one of my go-to products to lighten up my face.
Secret Concealer from Laura Mercier
A moisture-rich concealer designed specifically for under and around the eye area to conceal discolorations and dark circles without settling into fine lines and wrinkles.
Select Cover-up from MAC
Select Cover-up from MAC is my all-time favorite concealer! It covers all imperfections without it feeling too heavy. Also it works on all skin types, tones, and textures. Don’t leave home without it!
Secret Brightening Powder
A lighter-than-air powder used to set concealers while adding an invisible boost. If Beauty Artist Group was giving out awards this would get the Oscar for best performance.
I love my Z Palettes. They save me so much time space and time. Instead of looking through each palette I can just de-pot them and have them all in one spot. Z Palettes make using makeup so much easier. I love being organized and the Z Palettes make it possible. I wish I would have thought of this amazing idea.
Gillian Moritz from Beauty Artist Group was asked to participate in an online tutorial for TeenScene.com
Today’s pop princess, Demi Lovato was our inspiration. Check out the video below for a tutorial on how to get the look.
